This is the painting process of a painting I made in 2022 called Budeie. It was one of my first ever aquarelle paintings. Down bellow is my sketch.

The first layer of paint.

The light in the photos aren't the best, but at the time it was an honest attempt at capturing the process.

The final result.

The painting is of a friend of mine, and I gifted it to her as a Christmas present. I tried infusing her personality into it.
In 2024 the two of us tried to be Budeies/farmgirls together during summerbreak; which is a story for another time.
For those who don't know what "Budeie" is: a Budeie is a Norwegian term for a woman who has the responsibility over the animals on a farm or "Seter". Lots of animals were transfered to seters during the summer in Norway, in order to utilize the grazing areas up in the mountains. It's often associated with Norwegian Folk tradition. Few women work as a Budeie anymore, yet the lifestyle is often romantazised.
